Who Is Andy Ozment?
Dr. Andy Ozment is the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity & Communications (CS&C). And it’s within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). At this, he is charged to protect the government against cyberattacks. As well as helping the private sector to protect itself.
He leads more than 600 federal employees with a $900 million budget. These employees work to enhance security and resilience. As well as the reliability of the US’ industry and critical infrastructure.
CS&C protects the federal “.gov” domain of civilian government networks. It also collaborates with the private sector. Thus, increases the security of the private industry.
CS&C includes the “National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center” (NCCIC). This is serving as incident response. As well as a management center for US cyberspace and communications.
While At The White House
Dr. Andy Ozment worked on cybersecurity as:

But, he also served at the White House. There, he’s the President’s “Senior Director for Cybersecurity.” Aside from that, he is one of two deputies to the Cybersecurity Coordinator.
He led a team of individuals. And their team develops national policy and coordinates federal cybersecurity efforts.
Additionally, he led the development and the implementation of the “President’s Executive Order 13636.” This order is all about “Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity.”
More to that, he also oversaw the establishment of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. That in turn resulted in a significant increase in threat information sharing.

At The Department Of Homeland Security
There he leads the U.S. government’s response to several incidents in the government and private sector. Their team is responsible to find and remove the intruders at OPM. They also travel separately to Ukraine. Thus helping them to better understand and share information about the cyberattack. That turned off power to over 200,000 customers.
Additionally, his team builds and operates a classified and government-wide intrusion prevention system. They also work with federal agencies to deploy endpoint monitoring solutions across millions of government computers. Therefore, Dr. Ozment contributes to a measurable decrease in the cyber risk faced by government agencies.
furthermore, Dr. Ozment led to the development of the “National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace.” It refers to the administration’s signature initiatives. This is designed specifically to improve online authentication.
Also, before joining the White House, Andy Ozment led an operational security group at DHS. Which also oversaw compliance and metrics. As well as security authorization for the “Department’s Chief Information Security Officer.”
